Default Green's collector NPC.

Suggestion : Green's collector NPC.

I don't know about others, but while playing this game I tend to collect a lot of stuff. One of the things that tends to fill up storage and even some storage characters for me is unused green weapons. Some green weapons (a lot of them actually) you cannot get sold to other players because nobody is buying. There are so many of them arround that those people who want that green allready have one. Some are for professions I don't use and some of them I don't even like using on my hero's because they don't have the mods I like.

Still I hang on to them because of their unique status. I hate trashing something unique and selling them for 35g to the merchant feels like trashing to me ;-(.
I end up storing them, I probably should just sell them for 35g and free up storage space.

Here is a proposition to remedy this :

Put a green's collector npc in certain area's : "for any 5 green weapons I'll give you 1 of these 5 rare crafting materials that can be used to craft special armour : ecto/shard/onyx/jade/amber/diamond/..."

This would effectivelly increase the value of the weapon's to about 1-2k. I would feel better about trading them in to someone who loves them enough to collect them than just selling them to a merchant.

I think there are enough unused greens to make this interesting, but not so many that it would impact the value of said crafting meterials.

Somewhere to dump greens other than other players would be nice.

Nice idea, I think that it might work. Apart from the people stood next to it collecting 4 greens for an ecto/shard.

Otherwise a good idea to get rid of greens that nobody wants

I think that the 'rewards' for the green items should some more work... but the main idea is fine...

One in Lion's Arch, one in Kaineng, one in Kamadan and another in the Eye of the North... and they could give any kind of token in exchange for green items 'with value' (Not endagme or quests rewards, only those dropped by monsters that have value if you identify them)

probably a good idea with a minimum cost of 5k per so you don't have any green being too cheap.

/signed. Not all green weapons are actually sought after or useful, but it just feels so horrible merching them or wasting them on heroes. This seems like a great solution.

I agree with MithranArkanere. Not sure if I like rare crafting mat as the reward, but the idea of a green collector is a very good one.

Maybe just sell them based on supply and demand similar to the raremat trader, with a minimum price of 5k.

As mentioned in 2 posts above

I've always hated getting a green that's worth 1k-5k since you know it will take forever to find someone who will actually buy it, but you don't want to merchant it because you'd only get 30-50 gold.

Although I like the general idea, I think exchanging greens for rare materials wouldn't increase the value of common greens, but more than likely severly decrease the value of those rare materials, as people would be out farming common greens like mad to get the materials, dooooown goes the prices...

So maybe not for rare mats, but something... Even if they used it in conjunction with the Consumables Trader: 1x Green + 1x Skill Point for a Perfect Salvage Kit or a Powerstone of Courage. Doesn't mess with the economy too much that way...

I think he meant buying price. Becase like you said it would cause problems.

This is a good idea though, I think someone said it before but make it like the material traders where the amount you get from the green go down with how much its traded to the trader. This way people cant just get rich by farming a single green that drops alot.

Maybe, just maybe, they could make it an actual trader where you could trade your green for other green items(that have already been traded). The merchant would just buy the green if none are in stock(not sure how the pricing would go, maybe the price raises by 1k per day until someone sells the item). And that would determine how much your green would be worth trading it to the merchant.

Lets say someone sold a green at 5k(after 5 days of no one selling it). Now you have a more common green that someone sold at 1k(the minimum price). You can trade 5 of those to get that 5k item or any combination of greens that add up to 5k.

This might stop people from going nuts with farming as it doesn't really give them a solid amount of money(or any type of currency) unless they're the first one to sell. This would also keep greens in stock(with the price going up every day it's not sold)

It sounds reasonable to me, though I just kinda made it up on the spot so comments are welcome.

Even an ale is better than the 50gold most of the time you may get from selling greens to merchants.

So this should give no more than 250 per item.
Probably giving tokens in exchange would be the best option.

Then we could exchange the tokens for cooler prizes. Hell yeah its like Guild Wars and Chucky Cheese all in one! I like this idea more. Each green gives you a token, a certain amount of greens gives you rare crafting, new weapons or armor (maybe), consumables etc. With say 5 tokens you could get a skill.

Trade greens for consumables. Now that idea I like!

I feel exactly the same... I have a whole tab of greens which I can't sell but I don't want to trash them. My heros already have good weapons so I can't give these to them.

Give us an auction house instead
And add more then max 24 hours option they use in other games.
Then you might get some of those greens sold to casual players that don't spend hours in towns to find a good trade.
